At the heart of NavDeepam lies a story of resilience, courage, and unyielding determination. It began in the humble town of Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra (previously Aurangabad), where hardship was a constant companion for Monika (founder of NavDeepam) and her family.
Growing Through Life’s Toughest Trials -
Monika and her family lived on the edge of survival, and there were days when Monika and her brother did not have proper clothes to wear, and hunger was a constant shadow. Her mother stitched clothes and sold homemade shampoo to keep the family afloat.
At just 16 years old, Monika lost her father. In that moment, childhood ended. She stepped into the role of provider — collecting cable TV dues, performing songs and dances at local events, doing whatever work she could to support her education, living expenses and her family.
“I learned to survive in ways I never imagined,” Monika shares. “But even amidst the struggle, there were angels, including kind-hearted neighbors who fed us, teachers who waived our fees, and people who motivated and encouraged my brother and me to finish our studies.”
